Sailor Moon is a series aimed chiefly at teenage girls , featuring like-aged girls in the lead roles fighting against an invasion from another dimension , the Negaverse , led by a wicked queen , Queen Beryl. The main char is a ditzy blonde named Usagi Tsukino , with long, top-knotted ponytails which the other characters frequently tease her about (the usual appellation:"Meatball head"). Usagi has a brooch that can transform her into superhero Sailor Moon.
Usagi and her fellow fighters - Sailor Mercury, Sailor Mars, Sailor Jupiter and Sailor Venus - wear a Japanese schoolgirl outfit.
Each girl's powers differ according to her corresponding planet.
- SAILOR MOON - uses her crescent-shaped tiara
- SAILOR MERCURY- fires a fog disorientating bubbles
- SAILOR MARS- hurls fireballs
- SAILOR JUPITER- fires lightning from an antenna in her tiara
- SAILOR VENUS- a powerful beam of energy in thr form of two crescent moons
